The Science for Monks project includes development of an educational & academic website, working directly with the project director. The resut is an in-depth website featuring news updates, student profiles, exhibitions and a comprehensive workshop history.
ScienceForMonks.org was my second web design project ever, back in 2000. Science for Monks is an educational program started by His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama for the Library of Tibetan Works and Archives, and funded] by the Sager Family Traveling Roadshow & Foundation, the Templeton Foundation, and the Exploratorium in San Francisco. I've now worked with the Science for Monks project for nearly 10 years. With the sage guidance of project director Bryce Johnson, we have grown from my days as an artist and reluctant part-time and entirely code phobic web-page person, to this amazing, HTML5 website featuring native video, photo galleries, extensive content management that i s focused on User Interface & Information Architecture. There is also a responsive version in the works.
The vast amount of content is directed to educate the curious visitor, project educators, media, current and prospective students, while at the same time it features a portfolio highlighting the workshops, conferences and graduating classes from the program. It mixes academia and an important geo-political topic in a content-heavy yet graphically pleasing website, rich with in-house, standards compliant device-agnostic multimedia elements.
